Author: Jessica Hawkins
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 28, 2018

Blurb

There’s a thin line between love and hate . . . and it cuts right through the middle of their office.

Bad boys? They run right over good girls like Georgina Keller.

But after a confidence-shattering breakup, she’s determined not to let anyone at her new workplace push her around—least of all the brooding creative director, a “bad boy of publishing” who’s made it clear she’s enemy #1.

Sebastian Quinn's taste for fast cars, late nights, and beautiful women may have gotten him to the top of a leading New York magazine, but the reputation that made him is suddenly threatening to end his career.

Georgina can help Modern Man shed its bad reputation, but in order to do that, she’ll have to start at the top—and no amount of rakish charm or inconvenient attraction will distract her.

Because if Sebastian gets her right where he wants her, it means she’s going down.

Excerpt

At the stadium’s concession stand, I took a tall stool, putting Georgina and I at eye level since she stood. “So, why didn’t you kiss François?” I asked. “Bad breath?”
She gasped into her hand. “My breath is fine.”
“I meant his. I’m sure yours is pure relish on a hotdog.”
She made a face. “Gross.”
“I happen to love relish,” I said. “But does François?”
Each time I said François with flourish, she flinched. I didn’t care. Something about him bugged me—I just couldn’t put my finger on it.
“We didn’t kiss because you interrupted us,” she pointed out.
“So? If I were in his position, and we both wanted that kiss, I wouldn’t let anyone stop me.”
Frank and I are clicking,” she said, scowling. “There was even mention of spending time at his summerhouse.”
“Hamptons?”
She coughed into her fist. “Boca Raton.”
The idea of Georgina spending a summer with him in Boca Raton was tragic enough that I almost smiled. I got the sense she was playing up the date. If it was so great, why wasn’t she sitting here with him? And why was I more relieved than smug about that? “Meanwhile, Justin and I will be clamming in Montauk.”
“You two should really just make it official and announce your love to the world.”
“But then I wouldn’t get to flirt with pretty girls.”
“For someone who pretends to have as much game as you,” she said, “I still haven’t seen you successfully flirt with any girls since I’ve known you.”
I smirked. “How do you know I’m not flirting with you right now?”

Book Review: Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Hate Notes
by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward
Release Date: November 6, 2018
Source: Kindle Unlimited
It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end...

No one does romance like Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, especially a good office romance. Hate Notes sounded like it would have a very unique beginning and I couldn't wait to dive in!

When Charlotte finds a romantic blue note sewn into a dress she finds while selling her own un-worn wedding dress, she knows she has to find who wrote it. Before she knows it, though, she's working for the very author of the note, a very arrogant, cynical man who won't miss a moment to antagonize her. As Reed gets to know his new assistant, he's surprised by how much he likes being around her and by how much he's falling for her, no matter how hard he tries not to.

I can always count on laughing out loud when I read one of Vi and Penelope's books, and this one was no exception. I absolutely loved how this book started and how Charlotte got the job working for Reed. As always, I love a good office romance and it was so fun watching Charlotte and Reed constantly having to be around each other because of work.

Things did turn a little more serious near the end, but I loved how we got to see so much more into Reed as a person and how he felt about falling for Charlotte. Their little to-do list was such a fun idea and it was fun watching them pushing each other out of their comfort zones as they were feeling more and more for each other.

Overall, this was another fun romance from Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. The book did slow down near the end, but I still loved the romance and the banter between Charlotte and Reed. For a fun romance, you have to check out Hate Notes!

Book Review: The Trouble with Christmas by Debbie Mason

The Trouble with Christmas
by Debbie Mason
Release Date: September 24, 2013
Source: Publisher
It will take a Christmas miracle to melt her heart.

Resort developer Madison Lane is about to lose the one thing she loves most in the world—her job. Dubbed "The Grinch Who Killed Christmas," Madison spoiled a deal that would turn quaint Christmas, Colorado, into a tourist's winter wonderland. Now the citizens want her fired but the company gives her one last chance, sending Madison to the small town to restore the holiday cheer.

For Sheriff Gage McBride, no hotshot executive from New York City is going to destroy the dreams of the people he loves. But one look at this beautiful woman and it's his heart that may be broken. In just a few days, Madison causes more trouble than he's had to deal with all year. He can't decide if she's naughty or nice, but one thing is for certain—Christmas will never be the same again...

With Christmas only weeks away, I was craving a cute Christmas romance to curl up on the couch with under a warm, snuggly blanket. I thought The Trouble with Christmas would be perfect and I couldn't wait to pick up this small town Christmas romance.

As a resort developer, Madison Lane is very analytical and numbers are her friend. When it comes to the resort that is planned to build in Christmas, Colorado, Madison knows the numbers don't lie, and building in Christmas won't work out. When the people of Christmas are up in arms over Madison ruining their town, Madison must visit the small town to convince them the deal won't work. Sheriff Gage McBride isn't too happy the "Grinch" is in his town causing all sorts of trouble, but he soon can't help be see the good person underneath the Christmas drama. He is determined to put his daughters first, but Madison is growing on the hearts of Christmas and Gage can't help but feel his own heart warming as well.

As this book was starting, I felt like I had fallen right into a Hallmark movie-- in the best possible way! I loved how Madison had come to Christmas and everything was going wrong. Her chemistry with Gage was so adorable and I absolutely loved how good of a dad Gage was. Then, throw in all of the unique citizens of Christmas and I adored this book. Gage's family was definitely something and it was so cute how loyal they all were to each other.

While I did love this story and how adorable the romance and town was, I did think it went on a bit too long. After about 300 pages, there were some things added that I didn't think were necessary, including some drama that was a bit unrealistic. The first 300 pages of this, though, were Christmas perfection!

If you can't tell, I absolutely adored this book. I already have the movie adaptation from the Hallmark channel saved on my DVR and can't wait until I have a moment to watch it! I can't wait to see Madison, Gage, and the whole town of Christmas come to life!

Book Review: Hotshot Doc by RS Grey

Hotshot Doc
by RS Grey
Release Date: December 6, 2018
Source: Author
Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world—really, just a swell guy!—on the off chance he’s within earshot.

I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway half-hidden behind a plant.

Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’ boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: switch specialties and spend months retraining, or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant.

That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him—the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears—might just be reciprocated.

It’s fine.
I’m fine.

I take my job seriously. There will be no smoldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the storage closet. (Well, no more of those.)

What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.

I love when RS Grey has a new book coming out. She writes such fun rom-coms and I was so excited for this doctor and surgical assistant romance!

Dr. Russell is passionate about his job and his intensity comes off a bit arrogant. He's the best surgeon in his specialty and he doesn't have patience for people who can't keep up. Bailey is raising her younger sister while working as a surgical assistant. But when her surgeon retires, Bailey finds herself having to take a position with the last doctor she would want to: Dr. Russell. Dr. Russell does not want another incompetent assistance, but he's surprised when the headstrong, quick-witted Bailey shows up in his OR. Dr. Russell feels his walls slowly falling, somethings he's never felt before.

When I first started this book, I was all for it. I absolutely loved how serious and mean Matt was and how Bailey was the first person to really keep him on his toes. It was so fun watching Matt become fascinated with Bailey with how she impressed him and proved him wrong again and again. When this book hit about the halfway point, though, it seemed like Matt just flipped a switch and became a good and likable guy. The banter was gone and his entire demeanor just changed with the snap of a finger. I wanted more of his brooding side to stick around for the rest of the story.

From then on, the story just went along. It was very cute, but I just felt like it wasn't the story I was loving in the beginning. I did still enjoy how dedicated Bailey was to her job and to supporting her little sister. The romance did end up being super adorable, I just wanted more of the angst to continue from the beginning.

Overall, this was another nice book from RS Grey. I really want to see something completely out of RS Grey's comfort zone or something like Scoring Wilder and her Out of Bounds series, but I'm not sure we'll get that. If you want another fun rom-com, you should check out Hotshot Doc!

Blog Tour: Good Gone Bad by Giana Darling

Title: Good Gone Bad
Series: The Fallen Men Series #3
Author: Giana Darling
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: November 23, 2018

They say one action doesn’t define you.  I killed a man. Stabbed him in the neck and licked the blood off my lips after I did it.
Still, one action doesn’t define you.
I could have called anyone. My father, the Prez of The Fallen MC, our family lawyer, my best friend, Lila, or my brother, King.
I didn’t.
Instead, I called Lionel Danner, the police officer renowned for taking down the Nightstalkers MC. The man who had been my father’s arch nemesis for decades. The man who hated everything I stood for. A man who had disappeared from my life without explanation three years ago.
I called him.
And maybe one action doesn’t define you, but killing a bad man and calling in the good changed my life and it sure as hell changed his.

The third book in the Fallen Men Series. A standalone featuring Harleigh Rose and Officer Lionel Danner.

I was SO EXCITED to get Danner and Harleigh Roses's story after learning about them in the previous book. Harleigh Rose is a biker chick through and through and I really hoped I was going to like her personality while she fell for the irresistible cop!

Jumping into this one, I will say I did miss the whole build up of Harleigh Rose and Danner's relationship. Since the two had a history before Danner disappeared three years ago, I never got to see their attraction bloom and build. Instead, it was just there. They had instant chemistry, but the pacing just felt a little off. I did enjoy all of the flashbacks we got that helped explain why the characters were the way they were, especially Harleigh Rose, I just wish we got to see more of the build up instead of them instantly going in for each other.

Other than the pacing, this book was everything I wanted it to be. We got tons of action as Danner and Harleigh Rose are dancing around a very dangerous motorcycle club with tons of angst between the two. We got to see King, Cress, Lou, and Zeus all throughout this book and I really loved seeing them again! While I do wish we got to see some more members of the Fallen Men MC like we did in the last book, we still got to know some bikers and grow close to them.

If you want a hot, angsty, and very forbidden MC romance, the Fallen Men series is the perfect place to start! The pages sizzles with Harleigh Rose and Danner's chemistry while following a very dangerous MC war. I couldn't recommend this series enough!

Author Lee Piper - “So yeah, Good Gone Bad is hot AF. But it’s also more than that. It’s layered, multifaceted, and above all, beautifully written.”
Musings of the Modern Belle - “Good Gone Bad is not just a super steamy romance, it is not just a suspenseful story about taking down a corrupt MC, it is a reflection of how humans aren’t just good or bad. It is a look at how we are both, how we can find our match in another, someone who just inherently gets you. It is about living wild and free while still having limits and being able to surrender and submit for those you love. It is an epic ride I implore you to take. Giana and Danner and Rosie won’t let you down.”
Author R. Scarlett - “I am so so in love with this book and Giana's talent for creating addicting stories and beautiful complex characters.”
